H1706025_Rescue Team Finds An Animal In Desperate Condition The MG Cyberster Arrives: India’s First Premium Electric Roadster in 2026 After successfully establishing itself as a mass-premium player with vehicles like the Hector, MG Motor India has recently unveiled two ambitious halo models designed to elevate its brand perception. Alongside the luxurious M9 people mover, MG introduced the MG Cyberster, a stunning electric convertible sports car, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in early 2025. Both the M9 and the Cyberster are being sold exclusively through MG’s exclusive Select Range of dealerships, positioning them as distinct offerings from their standard portfolio. The MG Cyberster, in particular, aims to capture the imagination of driving enthusiasts by delivering the excitement of high-end sportscars at a fraction of the typical cost. But does this sleek electric roadster truly live up to its high-performance aspirations? After spending a full day behind the wheel of the MG Cyberster, I can confidently say that MG has delivered a compelling product that challenges the status quo in the affordable luxury electric vehicle segment. This is more than just an electric car; it’s a statement piece that promises thrilling performance, cutting-edge technology, and head-turning style. Exterior Design and Build Quality: First Impressions That Turn Heads The moment you approach the MG Cyberster, it’s clear that this is no ordinary vehicle. In the time I had it, I found myself repeatedly approached by curious onlookers eager to learn more about this striking newcomer. It’s rare to encounter a vehicle that immediately commands such attention, especially considering its price point. MG’s designers have imbued the Cyberster with an abundance of bold styling cues that make it stand out from the crowd. The most eye-catching feature is undoubtedly the powered scissor doors. Opening them in public is guaranteed to draw stares and sparks conversations—a truly dramatic entrance that few other cars can match. Both doors operate smoothly and silently at the touch of a button, and integrated sensors help prevent accidents during operation. However, the Cyberster offers far more than just fancy doors. Front Design: Sharp, Distinctive, and Premium The front fascia of the MG Cyberster is clean, modern, and undeniably beautiful. It features narrow LED headlights complemented by distinctive petal-shaped LED daytime running lights. Combined with the wide grille, this creates a distinctive, almost smiling face that adds significant character to the car. The bonnet features strong creases that visually lengthen the front profile, enhancing its aggressive stance. Side Profile: Classic Roadster Proportions
From the side, the Cyberster sits low and wide, perfectly capturing the classic roadster proportions that enthusiasts crave. The roofline flows seamlessly into the rear, and the large 20-inch wheels fill the arches beautifully, giving the car a balanced and planted appearance. The stance alone commands respect, hinting at the performance lying beneath the skin. Rear Design: A Balanced and Modern Finish The rear design of the MG Cyberster perfectly ties the overall look together. It features a full-width LED light bar that runs across the tail, adding a sense of width without feeling overly busy. It also incorporates arrow-shaped LED tail lights that are quite striking, although in my opinion, the design might have appeared cleaner without them. Build Quality: A Solid Foundation The overall build quality of the MG Cyberster is impressive. There are no noticeable panel gaps, and the doors feel weighty and robust. Both the bonnet and the boot lid also feel strong and well-damped, reinforcing the premium feel. The Electrically Operated Soft-Top Roof The Cyberster is equipped with an electronically operated soft-top roof that folds neatly into the body. It can be opened and closed in approximately 10 seconds and operates smoothly and quietly enough. Encouragingly, the roof can remain open while driving at speeds of up to 50 kmph, making it practical for urban cruising and scenic drives. Colour Options: From Reserved to Radiant The MG Cyberster is available in four distinct exterior color options, each catering to different tastes: Flare Red with Black Roof: A classic, sporty combination that never goes out of style. Nuclear Yellow with Black Roof: Bold, energetic, and undeniably eye-catching. Modern Beige with Red Roof: A sophisticated and elegant choice for those seeking understated luxury. Andes Grey with Red Roof: Modern, refined, and subtly premium. While all color options are unique and elegant, it is the Nuclear Yellow and Flare Red variants that truly grab the most attention and embody the spirit of a modern electric roadster. Interior Design and Build Quality: A Driver-Centric Cockpit If the exterior looks sporty, the MG Cyberster interior takes that feeling even further. The cabin wraps around the driver like a proper cockpit, with nearly everything angled towards the driver. It is clear that MG has focused heavily on delivering a driver-centric experience, and from a design perspective, there is little to complain about. The Triple-Screen Layout: Modern, Bold, but Slightly Unconventional You sit low in the MG Cyberster, the dashboard sits high, and the triple-screen layout curves inwards to keep all key information within easy view. In most situations, the screens are crisp and easy to read; however, when the roof is down and there is bright sunshine, the brightness feels lacking and all the information becomes difficult to read. The Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel with Launch Control It features a flat-bottom steering wheel that has a dual-tone suede leather finish. The steering wheel includes a red circular ‘Super Sport’ button that can be used to access MG’s version of launch control. This allows drivers to launch the car without having to navigate through menus, adding to the sporty experience.
Premium Materials and Tactile Controls Like the dashboard, the rest of the cabin feels rich, utilizing a combination of leather, suede, and soft-touch plastics. While most functions can be accessed through the touchscreens, there are also a few physical toggles and switches for essentials like drive modes and regenerative braking levels. All these controls have a nice tactile feel, reinforcing the premium nature of the vehicle. Seats: Snug, Supportive, but Size-Dependent In typical roadster fashion, the MG Cyberster gets only two seats. These are snug, supportive sport seats, which suit the car’s performance-focused nature. I am approximately six feet tall and found the driving position to be spot on, with enough legroom and just about adequate headroom even with the roof up. However, my colleague, who stands over 6.5 feet tall, found it difficult to get comfortable. His knees were grazing against the steering column, and his head brushed against the roof. This, however, is not uncommon for compact sportscars, as models like the Porsche Cayman/Boxster also feel cramped for exceptionally tall users. Comfort and Convenience Features The cushioning is firm but not uncomfortable and will be good over longer drives. The seats offer a good list of features, including powered adjustment, ventilation, heating, and memory functions with a welcome retract feature. Visibility is fairly good for a low-slung car, though the thick pillars at the back limit the rearward view. A notable oddity is the manually adjustable inside rearview mirror, which feels out of place in an otherwise premium cabin. As you might imagine, it also does not provide a complete view of the rear, meaning you’ll rely heavily on the camera system when parking or reversing. Getting in and out is easier than expected but still requires a bit of a duck and slide, typical of roadsters. Storage and Practicality: Limited by Design This is not a car built for utility, and it doesn’t pretend to be. Cabin storage is minimal and limited to the essentials. There is a small glovebox that opens via a button, a cubby hole on the central tunnel, a pair of cupholders, and a bit of space under the armrest. Given the way the scissor doors open, the only storage area is a small pocket with a closable lid that can store only sundry items like a wallet or power bank. Charging Options: Convenient and Versatile While it may skimp on practicality, the MG Cyberster’s charging options are more than adequate. It is equipped with a wireless charging pad placed conveniently in the central console, which holds the phone securely even during spirited driving. In addition, there are both USB Type-A and Type-C ports available for both occupants, allowing for both wired phone charging and media connectivity. Features: A Tech-Focused Experience The MG Cyberster features a driver-focused triple-screen setup inside the cabin. This setup includes a 10.25-inch screen in the middle, with two 7-inch screens on either side. While the layout looks modern, the side screens are partially hidden by the steering wheel, which makes it tough to see some information while driving. The Infotainment System: Sharp but Not Intuitive The leftmost of the three screens is a 7-inch infotainment system that has a sharp display and works with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which ran without any hiccups when I used the car. But one major issue that I faced was that the user interface (UI) is not particularly intuitive. Often, I had to search through different menus to find basic settings, and it took some while getting used to it. The Purposeful Side Screen
Unlike the other two screens in the MG Cyberster, the third screen feels far more purposeful. Tucked to the side, it displays genuinely useful information like weather
